Organizing the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) according to Standard Theory

Category 1

Irregular Impulse (Physical) - a physiological or structural block and/or abnormality in sending signals, connected physical pathways, or handling information directly from the environment (not caused by another person or relationship) as dictated by the Components of Impulse

Normal Components of Impulse:

Impulse: Begins communication with environment
Subtraction: Compares environmental information
Compression: Stores information

Related Irregularities in the Components of Impulse:

Impulse - lack or delay of initiation
Subtraction - lack of, delay, multiple, or incomplete comparison
Compression - lack of or repeated storage

The following diagnoses from the DSM can be categorized
based on their relation to physiological nervous function.
These are organized by their appearance in the DSM.
